Public Education program
Provides free weekly performing arts education to our partnering elementary and middle schools in Orange County. It is comprised of 2 different elements which are, “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind” program teaching 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders about the mind body connection while introducing dance technique and appreciation. The second element “Dance Break” is offered for students 4th-8th grade selected by school counselors and principals that provides dance classes in school during lunch hours to provide an outlet and incentive for positive social & physical interaction with peers to not only achieve in schools but to excel in their lives.
This program has two goals. One to provides education through creating opportunities for our youth to perform in professional venues for our community. By providing services and resources to the youth in our programs, our partnering performing arts schools and companies in order to support, improve, and increase their access to provide dance education and professional growth. Two to honor our commitment to educating, developing, and strengthening our community to make a positive change while ensuring continuity of engagement with greater opportunities for participation in dance and the performing arts. OC GANG REDUCTION INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Provides dance workshops for the Orange County Gang Reduction Incentive Partnerships as an incentive to decrease truancy, increase grade point averages, citizenship and self esteem. In 2017 DDF became an official partner with GRIP and held an all day workshop at Las Palmas Elementary in San Clemente for 40 kids on presidents day. The workshop ended with a performance that was attended by 45 people.
Special Needs program
"The Rising Stars" was adopted into our Community Outreach in order to bring the benefits of this special program to our friends, neighbors and schools in our community. Created by Ali Miller and inspired by mentor and assistant Gracie Doran. This program provides no cost weekly classes for children with special needs to give them a safe place to express themselves and offers therapeutic movement with dance techniques.
cepa Leadership program
The California Educators for Performing Arts Leadership Program allows us to strengthen today's students into tomorrows leaders. By providing leadership development, vocational skills, college and career paths, educational support and community service hours. These community service opportunities allow them to get hands on experience and apprenticeship in their field, gain greater understanding of leadership roles, the ability to recognize needs in the community and the chance to set goals as an educator.
Provides education through scholarships to students and young adults who wish to further their dance and performing arts training. These scholarships are granted to gifted students who are chosen based on skill, determination and economic need. It is designed to support the achievements of young students who are already seriously engaged in the arts and to expose and engage under-served and low-income students to high quality dance training.
Dance Discovery Foundation realizes that movement, relating to rhythm and music is innate in all of us and is a part of all of our ancestries. Our community outreach programs were created upon this knowledge as a means of help to support and improve and inspire the communities artistic potential and a way of bringing the community together. These vital arts outreach programs impart individuals with discipline, a standard of excellence, and a self-confidence that positively impacts their education and their lives developing self awareness, problem solving skills, interactive capacities and aesthetic appreciation.
Dance Discovery Foundation is a part of our community that helps many people on a daily basis.
